FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Everything below comes from real support mail. If your question is not here, the contact page reaches the person who built the tool — usually answered within one working day.
The tool
- What does Inkognito actually do?
- It rewrites text you supply so the rhythm reads like a person wrote it. The engine works sentence by sentence, in your original order, at roughly your original length — it varies sentence lengths, breaks parallel structures, and drops signposted transitions. It never adds arguments, examples or facts you did not write, and it never removes any.
- What is the difference between Light, Advanced and Stealth?
- Light keeps your structure and nudges the rhythm — best for short copy and documentation. Advanced rebuilds sentence rhythm across the whole passage — the default for essays and articles. Stealth reshapes the hardest and scores best against detectors, but it needs a read-through before you use the output anywhere important.
- Will it change my meaning or my citations?
- No. Before the rewrite runs, URLs, in-text citations, statistics, percentages, dates, currency figures, proper nouns and quotations are locked behind placeholders the model cannot touch, then restored verbatim. The rewrite itself is instructed to stay within about 95–105% of your word count and to keep every claim as you made it.
- How long a document can I humanize?
- Long documents are processed in sections and scored section by section, so a multi-thousand-word chapter holds its quality past the first few paragraphs. For very long work, running a chapter at a time makes review easier.
- Can I fix just one sentence I don't like?
- Yes. The output view has a sentence editor: click any sentence to see two alternative rewrites and swap it in place, without rerunning the whole document.
AI detectors
- Will my text pass Turnitin, GPTZero or Originality.ai?
- In our own weekly tests, Stealth mode clears Turnitin's AI indicator 94% of the time and Advanced 78%. Those are our measured results, not a guarantee — no tool can promise a detector outcome, because detectors retrain their models without notice and two identical passages can score differently.
- Why did my own human writing get flagged as AI?
- Detectors measure statistical regularity, not honesty. Heavily edited, formally structured writing — especially from non-native speakers who learned register from textbooks — has the same low-variance shape as machine output. Rewriting the rhythm usually resolves it. Keep your drafts and version history; they are the strongest proof of authorship if a flag is disputed.
- Do synonym swappers and paraphrasing tools work?
- Rarely. Swapping words leaves sentence rhythm and clause structure untouched, which is exactly what detectors measure. Some spinners make scores worse by producing an unnaturally even vocabulary distribution of their own.
- Is using this cheating?
- That depends on the rules where you submit. Many institutions prohibit AI assistance outright, and no rewriting tool changes that. Inkognito is built to protect genuinely authored writing from pattern-matching scores; using it to misrepresent authorship where assistance is banned breaks our terms of service.
Account, plans and billing
- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. The free tier has a daily word allowance so you can test the engine on real work. Paid plans raise the monthly word limit and unlock the stronger modes — current limits and prices are on the home page.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- From your dashboard, any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not pro-rate partial months.
- What is the refund policy?
- First-time subscribers can request a full refund within 7 days of the initial charge if the service did not work as described. Renewals are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. EU consumers keep their statutory withdrawal rights.
- Do unused words roll over?
- No. Each plan's word limit resets monthly and unused words do not carry forward.
- Which payment methods do you accept?
- Card payments via Lemon Squeezy and PayPal. We never see or store your card details.
Privacy and data
- Do you store my text?
- Yes — your input and output are saved to your account so your dashboard history works. That is the only place they persist. They are never sold, shared, or used to train any model.
- How do I delete my history or account?
- Delete individual runs or your whole history from the dashboard at any time, effective immediately. Deleting your account removes all associated data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep by law.
- Is my text used to train AI?
- No. Text is processed by Anthropic under no-training API terms and scored by ZeroGPT; neither retains it for training, and neither do we.
- Who runs Inkognito?
- Gabriel Kilonzi, trading as JuneTechSolutions, Nairobi, Kenya. Support email goes to the person who wrote the code — junetechsolutions@gmail.com.
